Newsletter 19th December 2014
We all enjoyed the parish Carol service in our church on Sunday last. We are very proud of our school choir and their excellent performance on the night. Our thanks to Brian Sheils, Geraldine Keogan and all staff for helping to prepare the pupils for the carol service.
Santa Claus was very good to the boys and girls in Knocktemple this week. The junior pupils had breakfast with Santa in Best o' Matz and Santa also took time from his busy schedule to call to our school on Friday with a present for every boy and girl!! Santa's visit was coordinated and supported by our Parent's Association.
We had our annual Christmas sing song and assembly in the hall again this year. We were entertained with poems from Infants and a few songs by 1st and 2nd class. Paddy Mathews and Ella O' Reilly set the scene by reading the Christmas story. The school choir then sang various hymns and Christmas songs. Emily Towell, Genevieve Hughes and Aoife Cahill played a lovely tune on the violin while Aoife Henry, Niamh Brodie, Caithlin Hetherton, Emma Hetherton and Genevieve Hughes performed the brush dance. Medals were presented to all our athletes, swimmers, footballers, show jumpers and handballers. Lorraine, our school secretary, received presentations from the Board of Management and the Parents Association in recognition of her dedication and loyalty to our school over the last 14 years. There was also a presentation to Markus Hofmann in appreciation of his support, advice and effort in the development of our new school website.
