Seachtain na Gaeilge: Tosóidh seachtain na Gaeilge an seachtain seo chugainn agus beidh gach duine ag danamh iarracht Gaeilge a labhairt agus a chloisteáil. Next week we will have Seachtain na Gaeilge in our school and we hope everyone will speak and hear a little Irish.
Cumann na mBunscoil Quiz: The annual primary school table quiz took place in the Hotel Kilmore last Thursday. Well done to our three teams.
Green School ‘Big Travel Challenge’: As part of the Green School Initiative we are working towards our 4th Green flag. We are entering a competition and we hope to improve/increase our green travel options over the next ten days.
Liathróid Lámha: Handball has resumed for 3rd and 4th class pupils in Munterconnaught GAA club on Fridays 6 – 7pm. Bring €2, goggles and gloves (if you have them). A group of pupils from 5th and 6th class visited Virginia College to play a few games of one wall handball in their fine facilities on Thursday last. Thank you to Ms. McGowan and the staff of Virginia College for inviting us!
World Book Day will take place on Thursday 3rd March 2016. A book token for €1.50 was handed out this week to all pupils. Crannóg Book Shop Cavan as part of World Book Day are holding Competitions. We have distributed the relevant entry form to each pupil in the school. All entries must be returned to Crannóg Book Shop by Saturday 26th March.
School Photographer: Memory Lane photographers will visit our school on Thursday 3rd March. Parents are welcome to bring in brothers and sisters for a photo opportunity. Let Miriam know in the office.
New iPad: Cáirde 2 pupils are delighted with their new I pad, many thanks to everyone for supporting our collection of old mobile phones.
Engineers Week: Engineers Week is taking place next week from 28th February to 5th March and the theme is ‘Engineering our Future’. This is an opportunity for pupils to learn more about engineering and have fun. Chris Riley, a local Engineer, will visit our school on Wednesday and he will speak to the classes about Science and Engineering.
Cash for Clobber: Bags have been given to each pupil for our annual cash for clobber. This is a great chance to support the School while clearing out unwanted clothing and shoes (pairs only please). All types of clothing are acceptable. Other textile items will be accepted, except duvets and pillows.
Indoor Camogie Blitz: Congratulations to Bernie, Sharon and their Camógie teams who competed in a blitz in Killinkere .It is the first time some of these young girls played a competitive game and they all did very well for their club and school. There are some lovely photographs of the blitz on the PA facebook page and the school website. It has been agreed to organise the next Camógie Blitz’s a little differently. Each Blitz will now cater for an age category separately; this will ensure that the girls will get to play for longer and the Blitz will now run from 2pm to 4pm each Sunday.
