Team Hope – Christmas Shoebox Appeal
We are taking part in the 2016 Christmas Shoebox Appeal again this year. It was a great success last year with our school & community donating a massive 76 Boxes. The closing date to get your finished shoeboxes back to the school is Thursday 10th November. “Many of the families that receive these boxes live on less than €1 a day”.
Many thanks to Jon Watt, Rugby coach, who attended our school for some rugby coaching this week. Jon will return again on Friday 7th October. The Annual Virginia Area Primary Schools Touch Rugby Blitz will be held this year on Friday 11th November at Virginia Rugby Club.
Transition Year Football Coaching
We are delighted to have the transition year students back again this year to do some football coaching. Last week Seán Erickson, Rachel Daly and Enda O’ Shea, all past pupils, coached pupils from 1st to 3rd class
National Day of Prayer for Children – School Mass
We are celebrating National Day of Prayer for Children on Friday 14th October and as part of this special day we will have our Annual School Mass at 10am. All parents and families are welcome to attend.
GAA – Cumann na mBunscoil
We are commencing a football league in school next week with all boys from 3rd to 6th class. We are taking part in a football blitz in Castlerahan on Tuesday next, 4th October.
Primary Planet & Newsflash Magazine
Pupils from 3rd to 6th Class will receive a magazine each month for the school year. The magazines are designed for primary school pupils and the material is child friendly and cross curricular and we hope it will be of interest to all pupils.
These magazines have very kindly being subsidised by the Board of Management.
Cross Border Orchestra Ireland (CBOI)
Our school has been invited to take part in the musical educational programme “Peace Proms.” This is a fantastic opportunity for our 5th and 6th class pupils to perform with a full symphony orchestra in the RDS next year.
Now that the remedial and drainage work has finished on our pitch we hope to use it again but we will stay off the part that has been re seeded (inside the ropes).
Tesco Community Fund
Our Cáirde classes have been nominated in the Tesco Community Fund in Tesco Bailieborough. We are asking you to simply drop into Tesco Bailieborough and pick up a blue token to vote for us. The more people who vote for us the more funding we'll get. So please pass on the message to all your friends and family. Thank you all for the very generous response so far!
School Car Park Reminder
Please keep the set down areas clear in the car park and only park in the designated car park spaces. Thank you.
