Parent Teacher Meeting Our annual parent teacher meetings will take place on Wednesday 25th October 2017. Each parent has already received a link to enable them to book a suitable time for meetings. Do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions.

Recycle of Old Mobile phones                                                            Thanks to parents who have recently dropped in phones and we ask all parents and members of the community to please check if they have any old phones they could donate to the school.

Athletics                                                                                         County Cavan Athletics will hold the annual school cross country championship in Killinkere on Wednesday 18th October from 11am. We are delighted to have 6 teams of boys and girls participating in the event.  Thanks to the Board of Management who will subsidise this event.

Transition Year (TY) Initiatives St. Oliver’s PPS

We are delighted to have the transition year students back again this year to do some football coaching. We are also involved in a Community Care programme  which involves literacy – oral language and shared reading facilitated by the TY students and pupils in our school. The TY students are also doing some Jiving with the senior classes.

Rugby. The Annual Virginia Area Primary Schools Touch Rugby Blitz will be held this year on Friday 24th November at Virginia Rugby Club.

National Day of Prayer for Children - School Mass                  We celebrated National Day of Prayer on Friday last and as part of this special day we had our Annual beginning of year School Mass. Thanks to parents and members of the community for joining us and a very special thank you to Fr. Callistus for celebrating our mass.

Maths Week
We are all looking forward to Maths Week - 14th – 22th October! Check out for some great activities for all the family! Ms. Duignan will call to all classes next week with ideas and activities.

School Car Park Reminder

Please keep the set down areas clear in the car park and only park in the designated car park spaces. Thank you.

GAA Cumann na mBunscoil Our boys team are due to play their final league game against Carrickabruise NS next Friday 20th October.   Our girls’ camógie team played St. Annes NS Bailieborough during the week and are due to play Carrickabruise NS, next Friday 20th October. Good luck to all the boys and girls. We are delighted to have Ruth Gilsenan, TY student, on Fridays to help out with our football training.

Virginia College

Open Day in Virginia College next Thursday 19th October, and St. Oliver Plunket Post Primary on Tuesday 24th October.  This will give our 6th Class students an insight into what to expect and is part of their transition to 2nd level.






Coffee Morning next Monday 16th October @ 10am

There will be a coffee morning in the school hall on Monday next 16th October at 10am. All parents of pupils in our Cairde classes and other parents of pupils with Special Education Needs in mainstream classes are welcome to join us for a coffee and a chat!



Computer Classes

Computer classes for children aged 7 to 12. Commencing Monday and Tuesday 6th & 7th November at Ryefield, Virginia. €36 for 6 weeks. For registration contact Ann 086 6018559.
