Green School Flag
Congratulations to the Green School committee on achieving a third green flag for our school based around the theme of Water Conservation. Ms. Brady and three members of the Green School committee, Seán Booker, Emily Towell and Martha Smith received the flag and award in the Helix, DCU, Dublin on Wednesday last. The Green School committee is: Ms Eithne Barady (Green School Coordinator) Mr. Vincent Mulvey (Principal)Scott McQuillan, Martha Smith, Niamh Brodie, Charlie Doyle, Peter McElroy, Genevieve Hughes, Seán Booker, Emily Towell, Caoimhe Hetherton, Cian Byrne, Erin McLaughlin, Ronán Skelly, and Eimear Cremin. Next year we will be looking at Transport for our 4th Green Flag.
GAA Handball President Visit
The GAA Handball President, Mr. Willie Roche, visited our school on Wednesday 20th May 2015. Willie was accompanied by handball world champion Paul Brady. He spoke to the pupils in their classes about the development of handball and the upcoming Féile na nGael Handball festival which will take place in Belfast from 19th to 21st June 2015. He also presented the school with some handball coaching materials as well as PE equipment and some extra handballs. We then had a handball exhibition with players from 3rd to 6th classes. Middletown Autism Courses
The Middletown Centre for Autism is running courses in Carrigabruise NS for the next few weeks during the day and in the evenings. Full details on these and other courses are available on www.middletownautism.com
Open Day for New Pupils
An information meeting/open afternoon for parents of incoming pupils will be held in the school on Wednesday 3rd June 2015 at 2pm.
The new school tracksuit will be available to purchase in the school from 1pm to 3 pm on Wednesday 3rd June 2015.
Guided Meditation Tara Kearns
Tara Kearns will visit classes in our school and model some guided meditation with the staff and pupils.
Autism Awareness Week 18th May – 21st May 2015
Our autism awareness week was a great success and it involved inclusive activities as well as Art and Poetry with the theme of Autism to the fore. Ms. McKeon gave a very informative talk to all classes on all aspects of ASD and she also answered questions that came up in the classes. We had a ‘Blue’ day in school on Thursday to celebrate difference and to raise Autism Awareness in our school. Our Cáirde classes will visit Rock and Bowl in Mullingar on Monday for their school tour.

Corey Gilsenan has been selected to play in the Cumann na mBunscoil game at half time in the Cavan V Monaghan match in Breffni Park on Sunday 24th May 2015.
Congratulations to Niamh Brodie on winning the county final in swimming recently. Caolin Hughes is also through to the county final in the piano competition.
We will promote healthy eating and lifestyle during our Healthy Eating events from 25th May until 5th June. Please focus on healthy choices at home!
Active School Week June 8th – 12th
Preparations and plans are ongoing for our Active School Week. We are finalising our timetable and schedule of events. We hope to have a keep fit / exercise class for parents each morning during active school week at 10am for 30 – 45 minutes. More details later.
