Open Day for New Pupils
An information meeting/open afternoon for parents of incoming pupils will be held in the school on Wednesday next 3rd June 2015 at 2pm. This will be an opportunity to familiarise your child with the school and the staff and to meet the other new pupils and their parents.
The new school tracksuit will be available to purchase in the school from 1pm to 3 pm on Wednesday 3rd June 2015. Photographs (and prices) of tracksuit available on school website and Parents Association facebook page.
Active School Week June 8th – 12th
Our Active School Week Timetable is now available and will be e mailed to all parents and families. It is a very full week of activities and we hope it has something for everyone. There is also a copy on the front door of the school. There will be a Keep Fit/Exercise class for all parents each morning (Monday to Thursday) from 10am to 10.30am and we encourage everyone to check it out!
Guided Meditation Tara Kearns
Tara Kearns visited classes in our school and modelled some guided meditation lessons with the staff and pupils. This was a very enjoyable experience and we are very grateful to Tara.
Brown Bread Making Competition
Congratulations to Caoimhe Hetherton, Genevieve Hughes and Elisha Kearns on winning a prize in the Sheridan’s Brown Bread making competition.
Our focus during the week has been on Healthy Eating and Lifestyle and we had a very interesting presentation by pupils from 3rd class regarding sugar content in food and drink. We will promote healthy eating and lifestyle during our Healthy Eating events from 25th May until 5th June. Please focus on healthy choices at home!
Transition Course for 6th Class Students
There will be training course for our 6th class pupils on the topic of transition to secondary school on Friday 5th June 2015 in the school GP room. We are grateful to the Parents Association and the Board of Management for funding this worthwhile initiative.
Paddy Mathews, Charlie Doyle, Cian Embley McGovern, Samuel Fadoju, Cejay Reilly and Caolin Hughes will take part in the Féile na nGael handball competitions which will take place in Belfast from 19th to 21st June 2015.
A reminder to all pupils from 2nd to 6th classes to keep working on their GAA picture for the local GAA competition. Closing date is Friday 5th June. Our girls Cumann na mBunscoil team bowed out of the competition having lost to Castlerahan in their last league game. In spite of losing the girls put on a very good performance and we hope that these girls will go on to represent their club and school with pride in the future.
Autism Awareness Art Competition
Congratulations to all the winners in the Autism Awareness competition. Ms. McKeon was very pleased with the entries and she presented the pupils below with their prizes: Leia Blake, Caitlin McCracken, Eoin Hetherton, Emma Hetherton, Samantha Faherty, Clara Skelly, Charles Bough, Daniel Yore, Emily Towell, Caoimhe Hetherton and Caitlin Hetherton.
